Thinking ahead for this year's Parsecs -- which story should I submit for consideration for Best Speculative Fiction Story (Short Form)?

Go here for the poll.

I have registered my vote on your myspace.

I want to go on record here supporting Huntress.

Tough choice that.

All these tales were a joy to listen to. :)

Huntress
was well done. I liked seeing Morgan get more developed as a character although she seemed more maudlin and less playful in her public interactions than in "Welcome to the City", admittedly, this was not entirely without reason. It also gives rise to some interesting notions of vampires who don't merely feed on another but spiritually bond with them. It would be interesting to see that theme and the consequences of it explored more.

The Yuri was a lot of fun too. :D

The Muse was a fun story. If it's not too cheesy to say, I could see this possibly being adapted into a screenplay as a sci/fi romantic comedy (think "Blade Runner" meets "Romancing the Stone"). The only substantive drawback I perceive is  there isn't quite enough to distinguish this particular story as an expressly Metamor City tale; However,  if this were adapted as a feature or short those unique distinctions would easily be brought out in the art direction and VFX.

Troubled Minds is the one I cast my vote for. The strongest of the three works, I chose it for its sense of intrigue and its success in avoiding the obvious mistakes that occur in horror. It was interesting to me to see these characters deal with their personal demons  in the process of addressing a very real and very menacing supernatural threat. My favorite scene was also the most eerie,  the shower stalls at night when she makes contact with the ghost of the last victim. It reminded me of the interactions Harry Mason had with a particular nurse in the first Silent Hill game. I also found the use of eroticism interesting as well; where it served a more pivotal role in the the climax  of the tale than it would normally serve at any other point in another story.

Had TM been expanded further as a larger story it would be interesting to see the themes of sex and the perversion of it  fleshed out more. Also, getting to know the Administrative Sister more would have been cool; finding out what shapes her life and what she is aware of and what she isn't while all these events are occurring. There is a lot that feels naturally cinematic about Metamor but Troubled Minds especially is also a tale that would really make a great screenplay! :D

Thanks for the detailed feedback, NB!  And no, your comment about The Muse isn't too cheesy; that's sort of the flavor I was going for. :-D
